Usage of AIM
AIM stands for AOL Instant Messenger, which was a popular instant messaging service created by America Online (AOL). It allowed users to send text messages in real time to other users who were also logged in to the service. AIM was launched in 1997 and remained popular throughout the 2000s. However, with the rise of social media and mobile messaging apps, AIM lost its popularity and was eventually shut down in 2017.
Examples of AIM used in texting:
1. Hey, can you message me on AIM? I'm having trouble with my phone's messaging app.
2. Remember when we used to stay up all night chatting on AIM? Those were the days.
3. I miss the sound of the door opening and closing on AIM when someone logs in or out. #nostalgia
